Stretch, strengthen, and let go of stress by joining this weekly mindfulness class that combines yoga, meditation, and breathing exercises. After a few yoga stretches that can help sooth aches and tension, we calm and center through meditation. Breathing exercises can also help us pause, energize, cope, and relax. These free classes are open to anyone who wants respectfully to join in. No special clothing is required, but you will be asked to take your shoes off during class. YogaActivist.org volunteer teachers lead these mindfulness classes, because they want to share the same practices that help them so much. We look forward to practicing with you soon!

POZ Parties Featured in the Washington Blade

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

pozblade1.gifCheck out the Washington Blade for a great article about Jacob Pring and his signature POZ parties. The Blade writes:

But perhaps Pring’s signature event — or at least the one that’s generating the most community response — is POZ D.C., a weekly mixer at Green Lantern for HIV-positive gay men and those who support them. He does the same thing every Thursday in New York and has plans to “take it national.” Another incarnation debuts May 18 at the legendary Philadelphia gay bar Woody’s. Pring says Chicago is up next.

All across America people living with HIV are participating, taking back and reclaiming control by lending their voice and their words in a project unique to the state they live.

Four (or possibly more) individuals who participate in the workshop will be invited to return Saturday for the filming of HIV: DC, a short-film about HIV/AIDS in the District of Columbia.

POZ Mixer Featured in the Examiner

| No Comments | No TrackBacks

pring1.gifJacob Pring is featured in this Examiner Article talking about the POZ Mixers that take place every Tuesday at Motley.

This is not your typical happy hour social. And it is not quite an old-fashioned support group. It is a mixer for gay, positive men in D.C. Why does such a mixer need to exist? Jacob Nathaniel Pring created such a mixer to help ease the tension when one must disclose his status to a potential partner. It’s POZ night on this sublimely frigid Tuesday and it’s been going on now for six weeks. Chris, a regular patron, shares “It’s hard. You have two or three amazing dates and then you have to come to them and say ‘I have something to tell you’. At least here you don’t have to be so dramatic”.
